In life, challenges are going to come. Everyone faces problems in life…so expect them! But don’t allow them to separate you from God’s divine destiny for your life. Adversity is God’s University. You ain’t been to school unless you been through some stuff. And if you’re taking the time to read this, I dare to say you have a story of your own to tell. But why does God allow this?
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows. If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer. And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort. We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about the hardships we suffered in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired even of life. Indeed, in our hearts we felt the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead. He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us, as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many.” (2 Corinthians 1:3-11)
#1: God Feels with us: What you feel…God has felt it too. He can comfort us because he has been through it. He is not inexperienced. He knows what he is talking about about.
#2: God will comfort us
Comfort (2 greek words)
- Para – hurriedly come along side and go along
- Stop, embrace, encourage, heal and help.
#3: It’s for a Purpose: That purpose is bigger than we understand. But chances are…if you’ve gone through a tragedy, it’s because God is going to use you to help others in the same situation. It’s happened in my life and I know God will use you too!
There are 4 Things about Us in this scripture!
- So we can Learn to Comfort Others: We learn by what we go through
- So we can Learn to rely on God and not on self: a little bit of pain will bring us to reality. “There will be times when only I can comfort you” – God
- So we can Learn to pray for each other: So we feel it in our hearts.
- So we can Learn to live thankfully.
“There’s no oil without the squeezing of an olive. There’s no wine without the crushing of a grape. There’s no fragrance without the smashing of a flower. There’s no real joy or victory unless you’ve experienced a little bit of pain and sorrow.”
